COVIDSafe App

Dear Families,

I hope that you are all looking after yourselves and those around you. Last night my wife and I downloaded and installed the COVIDsafe app.

Initially we were not going to, but two things changed my mind. Firstly, a friend gently reminded me of my responsibility to those around me; family, friends, staff and students. Secondly, I thought about the technology that we use every day. Google knows more about you than your family or even your partner. And, if you have Facebook, it does know everything about you. Then there is our own Government who knows all about your finances, taxes, support payments, health details, speeding fines and so on. Do you have a My Gov account? If you carry a mobile phone, your movements are already known, every time your phone pings a tower. So, my wife and I installed the app on our phones. It was easy and worked straight away.

Families, allow me to encourage you to install the COVIDsafe app on your phones and use it. Put it on your children’s phones. We are in a good situation in South Australia. The COVIDsafe app will help us stay there over the coming months. Let’s all look after each other.
